The HKUST Summer Institute 2011 Badminton Competition was successfully held on Friday, 22 July 2011.  Thanks to everyone who participated in the competition!  Congratulations to all our winners!

Module 1 Students - Check list for your first day

For students starting in Module 1, please check the following items carefully to make sure you are ready for your first day:

1.       Student Pack Pick-up

The Student Pack contains your student ID card and your email account and password.  You will need these items for your classes.  If you are have not yet picked up your Student Pack, come to the Office of the Dean of Students (Room 4592, near Lift 29/30) to pick up your Student Pack before your first class (on or before your first day).

2.       Email Account

You are assigned with a UST email account (‘accountname@ust.hk’) which you can use during the program period.  You can login via webmail at http://webmail.ust.hk/  using the password contained in your Student Pack. 

NOTE: Your accounts have been activated for you.  To login, use the password given to you, which should be in the following sequence: “si + your last name + your birth date (mm/dd)”, all lower cases, no space. (E.g. For John Chan, birthday on December 31st, the password would be “sichan1231”)

3.       LMES (Learning Management and Evaluation System)

This is an area for you to download course materials and view announcements made by your instructors. You can access LMES using your email account and password at http://lmes2.ust.hk/

Engg-Workshops and Get2Gather

Organized by the Engineering Student Ambassadors, supported by the School of Engineering, the Engg-Workshops and Get2Gather are exclusively offered to ALL Summer Institute participants.  

 

1. Engineering Workshops (Engg-Workshops)

Time:               4:15 – 5:45pm

b) Making Electronic Dice

c) Exploring Face Recognition Device & Robot Programming

 

2. Get2Gather

Date:          26 July, 2011 (Tue) & 4 August, 2011 (Thu)

Time:         6:00 – 7:30pm

Venue:       Tin Ka Ping Hall, HKUST Campus

Activities:   Technology exploration games, student and alumni sharing, and tea-reception

Thank you all for signing-up for our enrichment activities.  Most of the sessions are already full and there are still some seats left for the following sessions:

If you are interested in the activities but were not able to get a seat, please contact us at 2358 8464 or send an email to ustsummer@ust.hk to register on our waiting lists.  We will try to arrange more sessions if necessary, however please understand that we cannot gaurantee extra sessions.

Preparing for your first day

We have been getting some enquiries from students about what to do on the first day if they’re going to miss the orientation session.

For those of you who won’t be able to join us at the orientation, an information packet will be available for download on our website. You may also pick up a copy at the Office of the Dean of Students later.  We are working on the detailed arrangements at the moment, so meanwhile please be patient and wait for our further announcements.

The HKUST Summer Institute 2011 orientation sessions will be held on the following dates:

Session A (for students starting in Module 1):

Date: 17 July 2011 (Sunday)

Time: 2:30pm to 4:15pm (optional campus tour from 4:15pm to 4:45pm)

Place: Citigroup Lecture Theatre (LT-A), HKUST

 

Session B (for students starting in Module 2):

Date: 31 July 2011 (Sunday)

Time: 2:30pm to 4:15pm (optional campus tour from 4:15pm to 4:45pm)

Place: Citigroup Lecture Theatre (LT-A), HKUST
